A Blurry Pictures detracts from the overall aesthetic appeal. Try these simple remedies. Fixing blurry pictures is a skill you’ll be grateful to have, regardless of whether you’re an aspiring photographer, Instagrammer, or someone who keeps a lot of photos.
You can only fully recover a photo if it has a significant amount of blur, making it difficult to make out the features. In some cases, not even AI can save it. A typical photo editing program should be sufficient to make minor adjustments to a picture.
Here, we’ll show you how to use a computer program, an internet tool, and a mobile app to clear blurry pictures. Let’s get started straight now.
1. Restoring Focus in Movavi Photo Editor for Blurry Pictures (Windows and Mac)
First up, Movavi Photo Editor, which is compatible with both Mac and Windows operating systems. It is a thorough photo editing program that employs artificial intelligence to quickly and accurately alter your photos.
Use Movavi Photo Editor to fix a blurry picture:
- Add your photo after starting the program. Drag it into the editor, or use File > Open to select an image from your computer.
- On the Tools panel, click the Adjust tab.
- When you choose Manually, a set of tool tabs with varying degrees of customization become available.
- Please see the section under “Details” below. The tools we’re looking for here are Sharpness and detail.
- The sharpness slider should be increased. Please don’t turn it too high; your photo may look grainy.
- The Details slider should now be turned up. This tool is like a tiny magic wand that adjusts every photo aspect. Turning it up too high, though, may cause blur to appear again, so proceed cautiously.
- Select Automatically at the top of the Adjust tab if you want a computer to handle the settings changes. You can select from various filters, and AI adjustment presets here.
- If you’re dealing with many blurs, stick to the manual modifications outlined above. Image enhancement is your best option for somewhat blurry shots. Please wait for the preset to take effect before clicking it.
- The slider can be used to change the preset volume. After you’re satisfied with the outcome, click the checkbox next to the preset.
- Go back to Manually on the Adjust tab and turn up the Contrast a bit, whether you used AI or made human tweaks.
So there you have it. The blur in your photo should be significantly reduced. Select File > Save from the menu bar at the top to store your image. You’ll need to pay to remove the watermark.
Movavi Photo Editor for Windows and Mac is available for Download (Free, subscription available)
2. Fixing Out-of-Focus Photos with Fotor (Browser)
The next program is Fotor, one of our favorite web-based photo editors. Create an account or sign in with your Google ID to use the editor, but you will need one to save the results later.
With Fotor, you can fix a blurry image by:
- Select Photo Editor on the Fotor website’s Gets a Fast Start tab. You will be directed to the editor after clicking Upload a photo.
- Drag and drop your image, or click Open Image to select one from your computer.
- Make sure you’re on the Modify tab on the left side.
- Reduce to Minimum Settings.
- The tool you need in this situation is sharp. To your liking, adjust the slider. Please don’t turn it up too high, or your image may look blurry.
- While in Basic Adjust, we advise you to turn up the Contrast slightly.
That’s all. To save your photo, select the location, configure the image parameters, and click Download at the top right. You won’t see a watermark on your photo using this option, which is free. To get more advanced features, you can pay.
3. How to Use Remini to Fix Blurry Pictures (Mobile)
Finally, we have Remini, which works on iOS and Android devices. This app is powerful. Its advanced AI technology can improve almost everything, enhancing the photo’s overall composition and the main topic.
Remini can be used to fix a blurry picture.
- When you launch the app, the first screen you see lets you select a photo. If not, tap Open Gallery and find your picture in your photo albums.
- There will be a pop-up window. Tap the bottom Enhance Plus tab to pay for the Pro edition. Select the top Enhance tab to access all this for free after watching a 30-second advertisement.
- Once the ad is complete, tap the X Award granted tab in the top right corner.
- Remini was working its magic in the background as the commercial was running. Your results will directed to a new window.
- Drag the slider with the tiny arrows to view the before and after.
- For Pro users, two additional variants are available at the top, and you can make further enhancements to the photo at the bottom.
- Tap the arrow in the top right corner and select Save to download your photo. You’ll have to watch another 30-second commercial, but it’s worth it.
The results are outstanding. However, its enhancements are only sometimes accurate; read our comprehensive guide for more information on Remini’s limits.

How to Improve Soft Photos
When utilizing photo editing software to unblur a picture, turn up the Contrast and turn down the blur lights and shadows while you’re at it. This doesn’t fix the blur, but it does make the image stand out more, giving the impression that it has enhanced. Test with different combinations of the default controls and see what you can develop.
It would help if you always hunted for additional settings to help fix blurry photographs; Details in Movavi Photo Editor is an excellent example of such a different tool. To select blurry pictures in Photoshop, use the Smart Sharpen tool.
You may use your phone’s built-in photo editor to quickly fix a blurry image without downloading the photos to a computer. Get our comprehensive tutorial on using Google Photos’ Sharpen tool. Find your image in the Photos app on your iPhone, tap Edit, then go down to Sharpness, and turn it up.
Finally, our top recommendation is to avoid shooting blurry photos in the first place. Make the following a habit:
- Keep the camera steady.
- Invest in a tripod.
- Increase the shutter speed.
- Reduce the ISO setting.
